Plan projector placement before image correction
Separate optical placement, lens shift, and digital keystone correction during a site survey.
Define the image and the available space
Record the required image width, aspect ratio, screen position, and feasible projector locations. Check the exact projector and lens against the manufacturer’s distance tables or calculator. Epson notes that projection distance depends on image size, zoom, and other settings; a room dimension alone is not enough to select a lens.
Understand the adjustment
Lens shift changes image position through optical adjustment. Keystone correction alters the image digitally. Epson distinguishes lens shift from digital correction because optical repositioning does not require the same image resampling. The available shift range is model-specific and may be constrained when horizontal and vertical adjustments are combined.
Leave installation margin
Use a measured plan to check the mounting position, access to adjustments, cable bend space, and the manufacturer’s ventilation requirements. Verify the image with the intended playback resolution and a test pattern. Check focus at the center and edges, image boundaries, and any projection spill before finalizing the mount.
Record the commissioned state
Save the lens, position, source format, and image adjustment settings for each display output. Photograph the approved test pattern and document how to recover the intended state after maintenance. Treat that record as part of the system handover.
